Flexibility/adaptability: Storage elements such as straws, goblets, and canisters are pre-defined and new configurations can be created for user-specific projects. Storage containers, such as liquid nitrogen freezers containing a logical series of storage elements, are also user-defined. Similarly, optimal filling sequences of the storage containers are computed according to the parameters of the user's study protocols.
Query/worklist concept: Using the database capabilities of the software, the user can easily perform all kinds of query on storage related data (e.g., serum samples from a specific center that have been stored on a specific day). The result of such query is a "worklist" appearing the computer screen, printable and downloadable to a handheld barcode scanner. The worklist includes the barcodes of each individual sample to retrieve, as well as the full address of the sample in the repository, consisting of:
