Description/Use
An automatic system for ink-jet printing of biological samples in CBS™ High Security straws.
SIDE is compatible with 0.3 or 0.5 ml open or sealed straws and can automatically print barcodes (code 128) and/or alpha-numerical identification on the jacket of the straws.
SIDE is a flexible identification system enabling the laboratory to:
- print exactly the number of requested straws for a sample
- print exactly the same code on the straws as the sample to ensure the link
- print straws after sealing to ensure sterility of the content
- link through data export the sample identifications with storage management software.
The SIDE machine consists of 3 parts:
- a straw handler
- a PC with pilot software
- an ink-jet printing system.
General specifications
SIDE machine cycle steps:
- hopper feeding of straws
- ink-jet printing of tamper proof bar code and corresponding text of up to 10 digits and control key (code 128)
- manual transfer to their storage address.
The ink-jet printing system requires active evacuation of its solvent vapours. Technical specifications are available on request.
Setup, maintenance and shutdown: 15 minutes per day.
SIDE Pilot Software
The SIDE software features barcode reading or keyboard entry of codes to be printed and export of production files in different formats.
