Description/Use
Single-use catheter for intra-uterine insemination and embryo transfer.
Sterilized by irradiation.
Individually wrapped in a peel off plastic poach and packaged in boxes of 10 units.
Technical specifications
The Cryo Bio System IUI and ET catheter is made up of:
- an atraumatic flexible tip with distal opening,
- a flexible catheter sheath, graduated to ensure optimal positioning,
- a Luer Lock base for connection to a sterile syringe.
A protective sheath covers the whole catheter prior to use.
Total length: 185 mm (7.28")
External diameter of the catheter: 2.6 mm (0.10")
External diameter of the tip: 2.1 mm (0.08")
Internal diameter: 1.1 mm (0.04")
Useful volume of the catheter: 0.2 ml.
Instructions for use
For intra-uterine insemination
- Connect a sterile syringe to the Luer Lock hub of the catheter.
- Draw up a minimal air volume of 0.3 ml in order to expel all the sperm during the insemination, then draw up the necessary quantity of prepared sperm into the device.
- Put a speculum in place and use a swab soaked in saline solution to cleanse the local area.
- Introduce the catheter into the cervical canal and cross the internal orifice of the cervix to place the probe 1 or 2 cm from the uterine fundus using its graduations as a guide.
- Inject the sperm preparation.
- Keep the patient lying down for a few moments.
For embryo transfer
- Settle the patient in the lithotomic position. A full bladder is recommended for optimal transfer conditions.
- Use a speculum to see the cervix and use a swab soaked in saline solution to cleanse the local area.
- Pass the catheter to the biologist so that the embryo can be introduced according to the validated protocol (i.e. medium - air bubble - medium with embryo - air bubble - medium).
- Introduce the catheter into the cervical canal and cross the internal orifice of the cervix to place the probe 1 or 2 cm from the uterine fundus using its graduations as a guide.
- Expel the embryo and give the uterine environment time to stabilize.
- Slowly remove the catheter.
- Give the catheter back to the biologist in order to check both absence of traumatism and that the embryo does not remain inside.
- Keep the patient lying down for 15 minutes.
